Migration from GCP to AWS
The Challenge
BEGiN Learning is an award-winning early learning company
offering children the best start possible through digital, physical
and experiential learning programs. Their portfolio includes
popular products like HOMER, KidPass, codeSpark Academy
and Little Passports.
While the majority of BEGiN Learning’s infrastructure and applications were already running on Amazon Web Services
(AWS), the Little Passports product line was still hosted on
Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
This division in cloud platforms created operational inefficiencies
and hindered resource consolidation efforts.
The Solution
BEGiN Learning partnered with A2C Cloud to plan and execute a comprehensive migration of the Little Passports infrastructure from GCP to AWS.
The project involved detailed assessment and planning,
account structure setup & network configuration, transfer
of databases, kubernetes clusters & associated services, migration of staging, pre-production & production environments.
Benefits Realized
Cost Optimization
AWS’s Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) was 25% less compared to GCP, resulting in significant cost savings.
Enhanced Reliability
SQL databases were migrated to AWS Aurora, providing improved performance, scalability, and built-in fault tolerance.
Operational Efficiency
Critical services like OpenSearch, ElasticCache, and RabbitMQ were moved to AWS managed services, reducing operational overhead and improving maintainability.
Infrastructure Automation
Deployment processes were streamlined through the use of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform, enabling faster and more consistent environment provisioning.
Consolidated Platform
By migrating Little Passports to AWS, BEGiN Learning achieved a unified cloud infrastructure, simplifying management and enabling better resource allocation across all their products.
Improved Scalability
AWS’s robust ecosystem of services provided BEGiN Learning with greater flexibility to scale their applications as needed.
Enhanced Security and Compliance
Leveraging AWS’s advanced security features and compliance certifications helped strengthen BEGiN Learning’s overall security posture.
Streamlined DevOps
The migration included updating CI/CD pipelines, allowing for more efficient development and deployment processes.

It has been a pleasure working with A2C; the team was knowledgeable, fast, and reliable. They saved my internal team countless hours, enabling us to focus on additional critical work. The final output and launch went smoothly and without issue. I highly recommend working with A2C!
